ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT?

From today's Philadelphia Inquirer: "Several reporters toured Jenin with the Israeli army yesterday and reported vast scenes of devastation.

"They found mounds of wreckage 25 feet high and entire blocks leveled by bulldozers. They saw only one body, though Israeli commanders said others could be buried in the rubble and 39 had been recovered.

"On a related matter, the Israeli army announced that it had reopened most of the West Bank to access by relief workers and journalists, but the facts on the ground contradicted that announcement.

"Individual squads of soldiers still blocked reporters from entering Ramallah and several other supposedly open areas."
