PEGGY NOONAN'S MELTDOWN
Long Island Lunatic

We concede that the article to which we hereby link, "Noonan's Madness," isn't exactly fresh -- it was published on October 22 -- but we are grateful to have encountered it today.

Until now, we hadn't realized that Peggy Noonan -- Long Islander, former Reagan speechwriter, and gushingly emotional Wall Street Journal columnist -- had endured what was so obviously a mental breakdown following the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

We admit that we also were pleased to see two of the most ideological, thoughtless, unoriginal, and bigoted commentators on the American scene today -- Ann Coulter and Mona Charen -- take it on the chin in the same article. Andrew Sullivan takes a few lashes as well.

Readers interested in the manifestations of political psychosis are urged to read the article in its entirety.
