ANOTHER FIRST-HAND ACCOUNT
OF THE BETHLEHEM SIEGE
Anton Salman's View From Inside the Church

The Catholic News Service yesterday published an article by Julie Sudilovsky based on an interview with Anton Salman, the local Catholic attorney who played a major role in bringing an end to the siege at Bethlehem's Church of the Nativity.

Salman's description of the goings on inside the church would not make anyone wish he were there, but neither does his version of events conjur up the typical images of a dangerous hostage situation, aside from the Israelis' sniper fire and bombing of a hidden door that was an escape route in the early days of the crisis.

We wonder what the Punditboro will do with this first-hand account, one that so utterly contradicts the nefarious tales spread by the Israeli government and its supporters here in the U.S. Our best guess: Deafening silence.
